A suburban Grand Rapids couple's Christmas gathering had an uninvited guest -- a motorist whose car almost crashed through a wall of their apartment.

Police say a woman trying to park her Mercury Sable might have hit the accelerator instead of the brake on Tuesday afternoon. The car ran over two decorative reindeer and demolished a brick partition wall, then backed into two parked cars in the parking lot.

Resident John Gwatkin says that without the wall, his 25-year-old daughter and 8-month-old grandson might have gotten hurt.

Police tell The Grand Rapids Press that nobody was hurt and no arrests were made. The motorist, whose name wasn't released, is the daughter of one of the Gwatkins' neighbors.
