Police say a standoff between a man and police in the western Upper Peninsula has ended with a murder-suicide. A 6-year-old boy was also wounded.

Police say the confrontation is over, but didn't elaborate and didn't identify the people involved.

State police surrounded the house last night in Bessemer where a 34-year-old suspect was holed up. Authorities say the man's pregnant girlfriend also was inside.

Police say the man fired on officers answering a domestic disturbance call.

During the shooting, a bullet hit 6-year-old Keegan Miller, who was taken to a nearby hospital, then transferred to a hospital in Duluth, Minn. He was in stable condition late last night.
