A homeless man is suing the manager of a Kentucky Fried Chicken who he claims doused him with boiling water.

The Detroit Free Press and Detroit News report that Bill Zimmerman's suit has been filed in Wayne County Circuit Court.

The 50-year-old says he was panhandling outside the Highland Park restaurant in July when Kimberly Mallory poured the water on him.

Lawyer Mark Bernstein says his client spent 13 days in a hospital burn unit.

The lawsuit is seeking at least $25,000 and also names YUM! Brands and Kazi Foods of Michigan.

An employee answering the telephone at the restaurant Thursday said Mallory was not at work.

The Associated Press has attempted to leave messages for YUM! Brands and Kazi Foods.
