A Lansing woman whose husband died while they were in China to complete an adoption is back in Michigan with her new daughter.

Forty-two-year-old Sandi Sheldon was holding 18-month-old Hannah in her arms as she exited a security gate Saturday at Capital City Airport. Lansing State Journal reports Sheldon says it's "wonderful" to be home.

Her 46-year-old husband Dennis died Monday of heart failure, and U.S. immigration officials said she had to refile Hannah's visa application as a single mother.

The process normally takes weeks, but U.S. officials expedited it after intervention by U.S. Representatives Mike Rogers and Vern Ehlers.

Dennis Sheldon's funeral is Nov. 30 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
