A retired truck driver will spend 9 years and 2 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges that he traveled to Asia to have sex with children as young as 8 years old.

Karl Kaechele of St. Petersburg, Fla., was arrested in 2005 at Detroit Metropolitan Airport upon returning from a 90-day trip to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Kaechele pleaded guilty in August to federal charges of traveling with intent to engage in illicit conduct -- commonly known as sex tourism. The 65-year-old could have been sentenced to up to 30 years behind bars.

Immigration agents say Kaechele's luggage contained photos that included images of nude girls, and notebooks in which he described sexual encounters with girls in detail.
