Ford Motor Co. executive chairman Bill Ford says his company will form a Transformation Advisory Council.

Ford says the council will be made up of innovative thinkers, including senior executives from the Dearborn-based automaker and others interested in promoting energy independence and curtailing the threat of global warming.

Ford announced the council's formation during a speech Tuesday evening at the University of Michigan.

He says council members will include Amory Lovins, chairman and chief scientist of the Rocky Mountain Institute; environmentalist and best-selling author Paul Hawken; and Peter Senge, senior lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
