A 32-year-old man charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting three women from three Flint-area shopping centers is being sent for psychiatric testing.

Kevin Thomas will be examined for competency and criminal responsibility. A judge approved a request from Thomas' attorney that the suspect be sent to the state forensic center based on his history of mental problems.

Thomas was arrested last month and is being held in the Genesee County Jail without bond on 18 felony counts. Fifteen of those are punishable by up to life in prison.

A review date has been set for December 18th.

Thomas has lived in the Upper Peninsula and Florida and has distant relatives in the Flint area.
