Uncle Kracker says he did not sexually assault a woman in a North Carolina nightclub in August.

The singer -- whose real name is Matthew Shafer -- says he's not entirely happy with his decision to avoid a trial by pleading guilty to a lesser charge. Shafer is a Michigan native.

He says it started when he bumped into the woman at the club during a party after a concert in Raleigh.

Authorities say the singer put his hand up the woman's skirt at the club.

Shafer says he hit the woman after she hit him. He says he regrets the incident, but he's not sorry for his reaction to being struck.
