Hunting season begins in Michigan and Indiana

The deer hunting season starts on Monday in Michigan, and that will go on even if the government is shut down, but the check points will be closed.

Now before you start loading up your shotguns, it is only archery season. Firearm season does no begin until November 15th and only last two weeks.

Michigan DNR officials expect almost a half-million deer to be killed during this year’s hunt.

A deer hunt also starts on Monday in Warsaw.

Like Michigan, the hunt inside of the city limits is only for registered archers. The registered hunters had to go through a criminal history check and a training session.

Twenty-four archers are currently signed up to take part in this year's hunt.

Last year the hunt only lasted a couple of weeks, but this year it will go until January 6th.
