SOUTH BEND Wicked's run at the Morris Theater has taken the title of the most successful Broadway touring show ever to visit South Bend.
The two-week run grossed $2.7 million in ticket sales with more than 36,000 people attending the performances.
More than half of those tickets were sold to people who live outside of South Bend, which brought a big boost to local restaurants and businesses. Nearby restaurants reported up to a 40 percent increase in business during the period that Wicked was shown at the Morris.
Some more big hits coming to the Morris next year include Jersey Boys, Bring it On: The Musical, Million Dollar Quartet, and West Side Story, as well as Stomp and the musical based on Green Day's music, American Idiot.
