The Wall of Heroes in Elkhart could be in danger, largely because of the economy.
Don Fisher constructed the wall in 2008 to honor fallen soldiers and emergency crews.
Now The Elkhart Truth reports he can't afford the taxes and is selling the wall, along with the lot on which it sits, for $35,000. The lot will go up for auction if Fisher can't come up with the $500 he owes in back taxes.
Fisher offered to sell the lot and the Wall of Heroes to the city, but Mayor Dick Moore said they did not have the funds.
Fisher, a veteran himself, has been in contact with veterans groups hoping to spark some interest, but so far, no luck.
Anyone interested in purchasing the memorial can contact Fisher at 574-575-6078.
