Autopsy completed for 19-year-old Fremont St. shooting victim

South Bend Nineteen-year-old Cornell Taylor died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the St. Joseph County coroner. Details on the location of those wounds has not been released.

The autopsy was completed shortly before 12:30 p.m.

Earlier Wednesday morning. St. Joseph County Metro Homicide released the names of the victims from Tuesday night’s shooting in the 1800 block of N. Fremont Street in South Bend.

Cornell Taylor was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. The other shooting victim, Brilan Williams, 20, was also taken to the hospital, treated, and released.

As we told you Tuesday night, South Bend Police responded to shots fired in the 1800 block of N. Fremont Street just after 7 p.m. When police arrived they found two victims.

Metro Homicide was called out to take over the investigation due to the serious nature of the injuries. Metro Homicide says there was a large gathering at the scene before the shooting, which lead to an altercation and gunfire.

Metro Homicide is still investigating this case and interviewing witnesses. Anyone with information can call 574-235-5009 or Crime Stoppers.

Taylor’s autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning at 9:30.
