Construction is over halfway done on a Michiana college campus.
In May, crews began work to renovate the recital hall in the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts at Indiana University South Bend.
The newly renovated space will hold 224 seats and a variety of upgrades. Faculty say the hall will be a world class venue for the performances of chamber music, soloists, and small ensembles. The performance hall will also include state-of-the-art recording equipment, a new sound system and lighting.
The recital hall, now called the Louise E. Addicott and Yatish J. Joshi Performance Hall, was made possible by a $1.2 million gift from the Georgina Joshi Foundation. The gift is meant to honor the life and vision of Louise and her daughter Georgina.
Construction is expected to be complete by spring of 2014.
The community is invited to contribute to the project through a "seat campaign." A $500 gift will be recognized with a name plate on the back of a chair in the first three rows. A gift of $275 will be recognized with a name plate in the remaining eight rows. Interested parties can contact Dina Harris at 574-520-4131 or email@example.com.
