ELKHART An elementary school will see major changes next year as teachers take up a new philosophy of education.

Starting next year, Roosevelt Elementary students will wear uniforms; the school day will be shorter; and teachers will be teaching in a new way.

The Elkhart Truth reports that the curriculum will be focused around the STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, arts, math) method. It’s the same as the well-known STEM method, but art is also part of the agenda. The school hopes that every child will take up an instrument, starting in1st grade.

They are also hoping volunteers will speak to the students about careers, and teach them job skills. Businesses can also help by offering field trips. To find out how to help, call 295-4840 or email jkomins@elkhart.k12.in.us.
