A federal grand jury has indicted an Indianapolis man on charges he provided a career criminal with the weapon used to gun down a police officer.
The U.S. attorney's office said Thursday that 53-year-old Eric "Boo" Jenkins was charged with three counts of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and one count of conspiring to provide firearms to a convicted felon. He's currently in prison on drug charges.
Prosecutors say Jenkins provide a loaded handgun to Thomas X. Hardy, who used it to shoot Indianapolis police Officer David Moore during a traffic stop in January 2011. Moore died three days later. The 61-year-old Hardy pleaded guilty this spring and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Jenkins faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
