A South Bend man is in fair condition Friday after he was shot twice during a home invasion.
Police have identified the victim as 56-year-old Clasido Aguilar.
It happened just after 1:15 a.m. at a home in the 600-hundred block of Walnut.
“It’s just never going to end, it never will,” says Aguilar’s neighbor, Vanessa, “we just heard like multiple at least 30 gun shots and it was just like, it was unbelievable. Like, I never heard that before and it sound like, it was just a gun fight or someone shooting someone house.
Clasido’s family says three men got into the home by throwing a brick through their back door.
The mom was sleeping on the main floor, woke up to the noise and walked out to see what was going on.
After seeing the three men holding three firearms, she ran.
The family says the men then grabbed her, covered her face and that's when Clasido came out.
They say the men ran out of the sliding glass door, firing several rounds behind them, hitting Clasido with two of those shots.
“We seen officers come down Ford Street. We seen the lights by this ally right here. There was police with the K9’s walking, they came though my yard, they came down here, they were everywhere,” Vanessa continues.
Clasido was taken to the hospital where family says he had surgery on his leg around 5:45 Friday morning.
“I didn't even want to go back to sleep because I was just so scared that they were going to come back or whoever did this was just going to come back. You know there could be kids in the house you can hurt one of them. God forbid, but like kill a baby and people nowadays just don't think about anything anymore,” Vanessa adds.
