For most children, Christmas Eve is a day they look forward to all year, but for one Elkhart three-year-old, what happened to her this last Christmas Eve is something she still has nightmares about.

That's when her family says she was beaten so badly by someone she loved and trusted, that she can no longer be alone with any man--even her own father.

When Brooke Jackson went to work on Christmas Eve, she left her three-year-old, Aleah, in the care of her live-in boyfriend, 19-year-old Tyler Beathea.

When Jackson came home, she thought her daughter was sleeping, until Aleah woke up and came to her crying. When Jackson saw the large knot on the side of Aleah's head, she asked Beathea what had happened. According to the family, he said he didn't know, that Aleah must have fallen out of bed.

According to the doctors in the emergency room, however, the wounds on Aleah's face and head are inconsistent with a fall out of bed or anything Aleah could have done to herself.

Elkhart City Police arrested Beathea on Christmas Eve. They say he confessed to "losing his cool" and hitting Aleah after she wet her pants.

Beathea is currently facing a Class B felony charge for Battery on a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury and a Class D felony charge for neglect of a dependent.

He is currently being held in Elkhart County Jail on $75,000 bond for the battery charge.

Jackson and her daughter have since moved to a different residence in Elkhart. The family says the reason they needed to relocate is because Aleah can not go near her former home without screaming.
