A teen accused of beating a 76-year-old Elkhart County woman to death just days before last Christmas pleaded guilty to the murder Thursday.
Luis Bailey, 17, killed Norma Hopper after breaking into her house to steal her car and any money he could find.
He told police he beat her with a fence post while she was asleep.
He told officers while he knew killing Hopper was wrong, he stole her car and money anyway so he could buy marijuana.
Prosecutors only agreed to the plea because it came with a 65 year sentence for the crime.
Bailey will be formally sentenced on May 30.
