An Indianapolis teenager died after falling from a fifth-floor apartment balcony while apparently trying to escape from police.
Police say Xavier Sommerville, 18, of Indianapolis lost his grip and fell as he was trying to swing down to a balcony below.
Police found Sommerville face down on the sidewalk. He was taken to an area hospital where he died a short time later.
Officers had arrived at the apartment building, near the IUPUI campus, around 3 a.m. Monday.
Officers cited five people at the apartment for illegal alcohol possession and a 22-year-old man for contributing to the delinquency of minors.
