A 19-year-old Goshen man was arrested early Sunday morning for operating while intoxicated, reckless driving and resisting arrest after crashing his motorcycle and fleeing from police on foot.
It happened at 12:09 a.m. Sunday in the south bound lane of County Road 21 near County Road 18.
According to a press release, an officer from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department attempted to pull over Brett King, 19, on his motorcycle. King allegedly fled at a high speed on his motorcycle and crashed into an embankment.
Police say King then led police on a short chase, literally running from the scene of the crash.
King was apprehended and found to be intoxicated after blowing a 0.111 BAC.
King refused medical treatment at the scene and was taken to the hospital with cuts on his hands, wrists, elbows and knees.
After his discharge from the hospital, King was incarcerated at the Elkhart County Jail for charges of felony Operating While Intoxicated - due to a prior conviction within five years, Reckless Driving at a high speed, Illegal Consumption of Alcohol, and misdemeanor and felony charges of Resisting Arrest.
