Taste of Michiana set to start Wednesday

South Bend The Century Center will be buzzing Wednesday with tons of people and more than 40 area restaurants. We are talking about the 2014 Taste of Michiana. It’s certainly a favorite that gives folks the ability to sample Michiana cuisine.

There will be more than 100 different kinds of food brought in for the event. Some of the restaurants that will be there are Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza, Villa Macri Ristorante and Grill 23 Food and Spirits.

This is the first year Tony Sacco’s is participating. They are bringing garlic rotolis. They are garlic bread knots tossed in oil and cheese. Tony Sacco’s is known for its coal oven pizza and make everything fresh. They don’t use freezers or microwaves.

On top of that they have about 30 craft beers that are constantly changing. Tony Sacco’s is located at 201 Florence Ave in Granger.

Another first timer is Grill 23. Grill 23 just opened in December. This is their first time at the Taste of Michiana. They will be serving their garlic bread and beer cheese. It is a recipe that has been passed down. Grill 23 is located at 12797 SR 23 in Granger.

Finally, Villa Macri will be one of the restaurants there as well. Villa Macri has been participating for several years. They are making chicken piccata, bruschetta and Italian meatballs.
Villa Macri is located at 225 Toscana Blvd in Granger.

Taste of Michiana runs Wednesday, April 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the South Bend Century Center.
