Doctor Jerry Thacker was given Indiana's highest honor, the Sagamore of the Wabash Award.

The award is a tribute from the governor for those who have rendered distinguished service to the state.

Dr. Thacker is a Mishawaka native, and came to Penn-Harris-Madison in 2006.

It is not his first award. Last year, Dr. Thacker was named 2013 outstanding educator.
