SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Saint Mary's College students are dancing to fight cancer.
They kicked off the ninth annual Dance Marathon for Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis at noon Saturday.
And they won't sleep or sit until midnight, 12 hours later.
The event is held at the Angela Athletic Facility.
This year's theme is The Riley Roundup, centering around all things country.
“It's amazing we're able to have fun and get our face painted and dance with our friends but also hearing families talk about their own experiences and problems its inspiring to be able to help people and have fun at the same time,” freshman Claire Miller said.
Last year Saint Mary's Dance Marathon raised a record $104,000.
Since the organization began in 2006, it's raised more than $610,000 for Riley.
