In honor of the holiday season, the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center hosted a party for the local Boys and Girls Club.
Celebrating with new friends and old, more than 100 Boys and Girls Club members ranging from kindergarten to fourth grade, participated in the seasonal festivities on Wednesday.
It is not just the kids that look forward to the event, Roz Summerlin works at the medical center and says, “This is just such a great event that we look forward to every single year to come out and celebrate with the children. We actually tease our physicians that we have more fun than the children enjoying the holiday celebration with them.”
The games, crafts, cookie decorating and pizza party are all part of a holiday tradition that the Boys and Girls Club says means a lot to them.
“To have them actually come in here, work with the kids and see what that does to them. Just they're smiling. They're happy. They love to ask so many questions,” says Leticia Verduzco, a branch director for the Boys and Girls Club.
This year about 20 volunteers from St. Joseph’s helped out in the event.
