There are an estimated 53,000 veterans living in Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District.
On Friday, one of those veterans presented newly-elected Congresswoman Jackie Walorski with a flag he designed himself known as the “Spirit of America.”
At the flag ceremony today Rep. Walorski showed pride in her state’s patriotic efforts, saying “Our Indiana national guard is the 4th largest in the country. And we're a small state of 6.5 million people. And yet Hoosiers again are leading the way when it comes to the defense of the whole nation.
Dan Hemphill designed the “Spirit of America” flag in honor of those who have served the U.S in a military capacity.
“They gave their all that we may live in a country good and free, lest we forget they did it all for the likes of you and me,” said Hemphill.
The flag will be on display in Rep. Walorski’s Mishawaka district office, an appropriate decoration for the Congresswoman as she serves on both the House Veterans Affairs and House Armed Services Committee.
