Some Grand Rapids streets shut after package found

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Grand Rapids police closed some downtown streets near Grand Rapids Community College after a suspicious package was reported near a corner.

The Grand Rapids Press reports police evacuated and closed the school's field house on Friday morning as a precaution. They called in a bomb squad to handle the package.

WOOD-TV reports a threat also was called in to the field house. A robot was sent to look at the package. A nearby hospital remained open as authorities investigated.
