The snowstorm that moved through Indiana left some areas of the state under 8 inches or more of snow, while snow continues to fall in northern Indiana.
The National Weather Service says the heaviest snowfall was reported in northeast Indiana, with the community of Hudson in Steuben County, 30 miles north of Fort Wayne, receiving 9.5 inches of snow. The community of Leesburg in Kosciusko County received 8.2 inches and in northwest Indiana, Hobart received 8 inches.
Mishawaka and Columbia City received 7.9 inches, while Milford and Wakarusa each received 7.8 inches and Angola and Auburn received 7.5 inches. Fort Wayne received 7.1 inches.
With winter days away, snowstorm grips Michigan
A pre-winter snowstorm continues to grip parts of Michigan, with accumulations already topping 9 inches in the state's southeastern corner.
The National Weather Service says snow was falling at most of its Michigan reporting points at 3 p.m. Sunday, with temperatures ranging from 1 above zero at Ironwood in the western Upper Peninsula to 25 at Ypsilanti in southeastern lower Michigan.
The weather service says the storm has dropped 9.1 inches of snow at Newport in Monroe County, 8.7 inches at Morenci in Lenawee County and 8.4 inches at the Wayne County community of Wyandotte south of Detroit.
State police say they've handled at least 85 crashes in southeastern Michigan alone, as well as "numerous spinouts and driver assists."
So far, no serious injuries have been reported.
