Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman is honoring Hoosiers who have kept their farms in their families for more than a century.

Skillman presented Hoosier Homestead awards to 75 families at the Indiana State Fair on Wednesday. She also recognized 29 families who have kept their farms for more than 150 years.

The awards recognize Indiana farmers who maintained farms for at least a century, sold at least $1,000 of products each year and maintained at least 20 acres.

Skillman serves as Indiana's agriculture secretary. She's spent much of this summer talking about how the state is helping farmers deal with the crippling drought.
