Six new SB fire and police personnel sworn in


South Bend, Ind. You'll see several new faces around South Bend in both the police and fire departments.

On Wednesday, six men were sworn in as officers during the board of public safety meeting

From the fire department, David Jester was promoted to Captain in Special Assignment for at least one year on a probational period

On the police side, Mayor Pete and Police Chief Ron Teachmen welcomed five new officers.

"You're a leader,” Buttigieg told the group. “South bend, the name of our city, not only the police department, but the name of our city will be stitched to your shoulder from now on. That means that everywhere you go you are South Bend and you represent South Bend."

The mayor also emphasized that the new officers have a wealth of experience, dedication and community service involvement.
