Sidewalk performer ordinance filed with city council

South Bend, Ind. An ordinance to legalize busking, the term for sidewalk performances, was filed with the South Bend City Council on Thursday.

NewsCenter 16 first was the first to tell you about the proposed busking ordinance on Tuesday of this week.

Interested entertainers would have to apply for a permit, which run about twenty bucks a year.

Performers can still accept cash donations as long as they don't aggressively solicit.

They'd be able to entertain from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on weekdays, and until 11 p.m. on weekends.

The ordinance also requires that performers stay at least 50 feet away from one another.
