An Elkhart County Sheriff's Deputy has been charged for violating a protective order held by his wife.

The Elkhart Truth reports that 37-year-old patrolman William Long was charged with that misdemeanor, as well as a misdemeanor crime of damaging property.

He was arrested late last month for kicking in the door at his wife's home. They are currently going through a divorce.
