Sen. Donnelly donates government shutdown pay to food banks

Just in time for Thanksgiving, 10 Hoosier food banks will be getting a gift, courtesy of the recent government shutdown.

On Wednesday, Sen. Joe Donnelly gave the food banks hi take-home pay for the 16 days of government gridlock.

It totaled about $5,000, which will be divided between each one.

In a statement Wednesday, Donnelly said it was irresponsible for lawmakers to create problems for the economy, while many Hoosiers are trying to put food on the table.

In our area, the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, will be getting a $500 check.
