MISHAWAKA, Ind. Mishawaka police say they talked to a woman who thought she'd been called by the police.

Her caller ID showed "City of Mishawaka" and the scammers told her a warrant would be filed against her husband if she didn't follow through.

The victim was directed to call another number to pay outstanding fines.

The woman recognized it was a scam, and reporting the incident.

Mishawaka police would like to remind people that they'll never call someone and threaten them with a warrant, or collect money over the phone.
