A southeastern Indiana man has been arrested on a murder charge in the death of a 1-year-old boy he had been baby-sitting.
Indiana State Police say 26-year-old Brian Woeste of Ohio County faces one count each of murder and battery and two counts of neglect resulting in death. He was being held Thursday at the Switzerland County Jail in Vevay in January's death of Nolan Helfrich.
An autopsy found Nolan died from blunt force trauma to the head, neck, and torso. His death was ruled a homicide due to "non-accidental" injures.
Investigators say Woeste was the live-in boyfriend of the boy's mother. Woeste was baby-sitting Nolan Jan. 18 when the child was injured at a Rising Sun residence while his mother was attending a college course in Lawrenceburg.
