Man wounded, woman arrested in domestic dispute

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A domestic dispute late Saturday evening in South Bend left a man wounded and a woman behind bars, according to police.

Police were called around 10:25 p.m. to the 2100 block of S. Brookfield Street, and found a man with a cut to the chest. Police believe the woman used a butcher knife.

"We arrived and we found a male in the back yard that had suffered a cut to his chest area," Lt. Steve Noonan said at the scene Saturday night. "It appears at this time non-life threatening injury. Through subsequent investigation we found that it was a domestic situation in which we have arrested a female, and charged her with battery."

Tomara Agnew, 36, was taken into custody, facing a charge of aggravated battery.

The 55-year-old victim is said to be in good condition.
