A robbery was committed in the middle of a county road this week.

The victim was stopped Tuesday night on County Road 142 in New Paris, between C.R. 29 and C.R. 42.

He told Elkhart County Police that he came up on a man, just standing in the roadway. He says he slowed down, and a red truck drove up close to him. The driver of that truck and the man in the roadway then approached his car and threatened him with a machete knife, if he didn't give them money.

The victim escaped without injury, and without giving money, but police are still looking for the suspects. The first suspect is a Hispanic man, in his late 20's or early 30's. He has dark hair, in a buzz cut, with long sideburns and a goatee. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and skinny blue jeans. He has teardrop tattoos near his left eye and the number 13 tattooed near his right eye. The second suspect is also a Hispanic man. He was wearing a blue bandana over his nose and mouth, a blue sweatshirt, black shorts and white knee-high socks.

They were driving a red, 1990's Chevy 1500 extended cab truck. The windshield was cracked.

Anyone with information can contact the Elkhart County Sheriff's department.
