GARY, Ind. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz will lead a delegation of Indiana educators on a trip to China to visit schools, meet with education and government officials and examine teaching practices.
The Post-Tribune of Merrillville reports the group will look at assessment and teacher evaluation methods in the Chinese public school system. The educators will be in China from Oct. 9-19. The group will also visit cultural sites in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing.
The trip is being organized by Global Indiana: A Consortium for International Exchange. The not-for-profit group has been providing study trips for educators since 1997.
Gary Community School Corp. Superintendent Cheryl Pruitt is among those scheduled to go on the trip. She says the American and Chinese educators can learn from each other.
