A well-known Indiana restaurant is expanding into Michiana in April, and with the new location its planning on dishing out some 200 jobs.
Scotty’s Brewhouse is a dining favorite in cities including Muncie, West Lafayette and Indianapolis. Now, the chain is opening its seventh eatery in Mishawaka. The restaurant occupies the building that once housed Max and Erma’s along Main St.
On Saturday, management from Scotty’s Brewhouse was on the lookout for several hundred employees to staff their new establishment and held a job fair at the Hyatt Place Hotel on Day Rd.
Dozens of unemployed from around the area stopped by the fair, and according to Scotty’s Brewhouse Assistant General Manager, John Sanders, many people who showed up were hired on the spot.
“The best ones are the ones that it's not expected. And you leave and they're really happy and they're pumped up. And they just expected to come in and fill out an application and walk out the door. But they actually leave having a new job and a fresh start and a new career, and there's nothing better than seeing that when they walk out the door,” Sanders added.
There will be four more job fairs to fill the vacant positions to be held on Tuesday, Mar. 4 and Wednesday, Mar. 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as Friday and Saturday, Mar. 8-9 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the same location of the Hyatt Place Hotel.
