CULVER Dozens of protesters gathered along Lake Shore Drive near Culver's town park on Sunday to voice frustration over the parks department's decision to remove the swimming pier from the public beach.

The Plymouth Pilot reports that the pier was removed because swimmers continually broke the rules at the pier. The city has no plans to reinstall it.

Many residents are angry about the move and say there are better ways to handle kids who break the rules. The city says it's not worth the risk.
