Rep. Walorski celebrates "Read Across America" Day

Rep. Jackie Walorski received a warm greeting Friday morning as students at Mary Beck Elementary School in Elkhart excitedly awaited to have the book, “The Cat in the Hat,” read to them by the Congresswoman.

“I'm grateful to be here, but I give great kudos to the instructors in this place, the teachers here, the principal. They've really come in and really turned around a concept of teaching with a lot of hands-on things for kids to do but really made the arts a part of it,” said Rep. Walorski.

Each and every year the National Education Association uses the event to promote reading and literacy among grade school children. The celebration coincides with the birthday of the famous children author, Dr. Suess.

Rep. Walorski’s choice of book reflected her favorite by the beloved children’s author.

As part of Read Across America Day, Better World Books donated books to every student at Mary Beck Elementary School.
