SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The renovations at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart are under way, and we got a glimpse at the progress.
The carpet that was once there has been completely torn up as they replace it with slate tile. The renovations started on Dec. 26 right after they finished their Christmas services. The work is expected to be done next Friday, Jan. 17.
The changes are supposed to enhance the acoustics in the basilica and eliminate the need of replacing the carpeting every 10 to 15 years.
You can see more of the renovation on the Big Red Bar.
