Folks continued the daunting task of digging out of the snow today.

And officials are asking you to keep fire safety in mind when shoveling around your home.

We often focus on the highly trafficked doorways, but don't forget about the exits you don't normally use.

They may be essential for escape during a fire.

It's also important to keep checking that those exits are clear.

“The snow isn't over so we want people to remember to go back out walk around make sure doorways are clear and open from the inside so don't use the door as the snowplow.”

And of course, don't forget to clear a 3-foot space around any fire hydrants on your property.
