Elkhart, Ind. The RV industry has been a major part of northern Indiana's economy and it continues to go strong this year.
The RV Industry Association report shows that shipments to retailers last month were up 29 percent from September and nearly 17 percent more than during October 2012.
Elkhart County saw thousands of layoffs from factories early in the recession, putting Indiana in the lead with the highest unemployment rates.
But now, sales are expanding with younger generations becoming frequent buyers.
RV sales spikes aren't expected but sales of towable trailers have been returning to pre-recession levels and could still have growth.
