"Our Town, Our Children, Our Future," is the theme of the 5th annual Truck Pull for South Bend Schools.
The fundraiser is put on by the South Bend Education Foundation, and is a competition between business-school partner teams to pull a semi against the clock. Participants of 20 per team will pull a 53-foot trailer for 12 feet. Winners recieve trophies and bragging rights.
All of the proceeds from team sponsors go toward funding reading programs and school projects in South Bend.
38 teams will pull trucks this year, but the community is invited to join schools "non-pulling" support team by donating online or showing support at the event.
The Truck Pull is going on Saturday, October 5, from 8-2p.m. at the Century Center. It is free to watch, and open to the public. For more information, click here for the Education Foundation website.
The event also includes a Community Faire that will be held in Discovery Hall at the Century Center. The Junior League of South Bend will host a Thrift Shop Sale, plus there will be student performances, the Kohl's "Feastival," school information booths, and free books for students from Better World Books.
