ELKHART The public has the chance to tell the Elkhart school board how they feel about a proposed referendum that would raise money for the schools through property taxes.
A $19million referendum would raise funds for building and security, and a $ 4 million request would fund transportation for the next seven years. Combined, the referendums would cost tax payers about 18 cents per $100 of assessed property value.
If the school board approves the request, they will go to voters in the May election.
The board told The Elkhart Truth that Monday’s meeting will be held only if travel restrictions are lifted.
