Proposed law would bring longer summer to Indiana students

Indiana schools could be off to a later start in coming years, thanks to a bill being considered in the state legislature.

WKVI reports that the bill proposes that school cannot start before Labor Day and must end by June 16.

The same bill was defeated last year, favoring current legislation which allows each district to decide their own start and end dates.

Opponents say the legislation is a political move to appease the gaming and recreation industries, who want a longer summer and heavier spending.
