Police say they found a box containing 17 pipe bombs when they searched the rural central Indiana home of a man who they believe fatally shot his wife and then wounded himself.
The Hendricks County Sheriff's Department says that a bomb squad from Indianapolis destroyed the devices about 2 a.m. Wednesday after deputies serving a search warrant found them at Michael Giles' home near Lizton.
Authorities say 26-year-old Emily Giles was killed Monday night following an argument with her husband. Police say a young child in the home wasn't hurt and that a grandparent took the child from the
scene about 20 miles west of Indianapolis.
Michael Giles was taken in serious condition to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. The hospital wouldn't update his condition Wednesday.
