Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Pence is spending heavily on Indiana's airwaves to define himself ahead of November's election.
The congressman has spent $1.4 million on a trio of ads since May while his two opponents have yet to air any television commercials.
Democrat John Gregg's spokesman Daniel Altman has criticized the Pence ads for lacking substance. But Pence spokeswoman Christy Denault says the campaign has been talking to voters about issues off the air.
The three Pence ads are only the first volley in what will likely be another costly campaign ad-war in Indiana. The gubernatorial candidates, including Libertarian Rupert Boneham, are scheduled to release their latest fundraising numbers in mid-July.
All three will be competing with Indiana's Senate candidates for airtime in the race to November.
