A bipartisan effort by Indiana lawmakers to help veterans is paying off.

Governor Mike Pence approved the Military Family Relief Fund on Thursday. He signed the legislation during a ceremony held at the Indiana War Memorial.

The measure removes any time limits veterans have to apply for financial assistance.

Previously, they only had three years after returning from service.

The new legislation also makes it easier for their families to get help too.
