One For One online company gives back to Elkhart

Modeling their online company after the shoe-brand, Toms, which brought eco-friendly and charitable sales to popular attention, one Elkhart couple are doing their part to give back to the community.

Garner Wireman and his wife started the company One For One two years ago after seeing an interview with Blake Mycoske, the founder of Toms.

One For One sells shirts, head gear, and tote bags online, operating on the simple theme of “buy one, give one. For every purchase made, Wireman says he gives another item to the community.

"So we try to as a community, or as a community member we want to make sure we're taking care of our neighbors and now just rely on the state or government. To do that. We can just do something simple such as a clean shirt or food or water," he said.

For now, Wireman is partnering with the Elkhart community, the Salvation Army, and The Shelter for the Homeless. In time, he says he hopes to expand to help more people in need.

One For One’s products are also available at the Goshen Farmer’s Market.
